The Webcity High Availability Server Architecture (HASA)

High Availability, Clustered Servers, Redundant Servers, Automatic Failover, Clustered Hosting, Load Balancing

As of January 2008, all new Professional Hosting plans will be hosted on Webcity's new High Availability Server Architecture (HASA).

The result of 2 years intense development, the HASA is specifically designed for our cPanel based shared hosting product. It is based on a clustered server environment with full redundancy and automatic failover.

Traditional clustering models often focus on providing redundant network and server hardware. Other models aim at increasing software stability by separating various applications amongst different servers, but this has a number of limitations, and is particularly problematic in regards to cPanel.

The Webcity HASA includes full redundancy of all server and networking hardware, there is no single point of failure whatsoever. While each cPanel server is at any point in time running from just one dedicated physical server, we can very easily and quickly change which specific server that is, thus allowing us to replace a failing server or a server that is struggling under heavy load with a new server at any time.

Additionally, the HASA also allows us to switch between multiple instances of the same server software in case the issues on the live server are software related and not hardware related. This lets us for example take a server, apply a patch or tweak it's settings and run the modified version on a second server, and then promote that server as the primary, thus greatly reducing potential downtime.

All of this adds up to a solution that provides the ultimate in High Availability hosting, and is far superior to anything else on offer within the Australian Shared Hosting market. Combined with our ultra competitive pricing, the HASA makes webcity Professional Hosting services the clear choice for Australian small businesses.
